Ewell
The Spring Tavern
Recently refurbished and it shows – it looks great. You can always tell a forward-thinking pub, and this place moves with the times, with a full vegan menu for conscientious eaters, and kid’s choices that stretch nicely to lovely mini-roast lunches at the weekend. They also have some fine additions from the Hogs Back Brewery on tap, which is never a bad thing.

Walton on the Hill
The Chequers
With all these bizarre new weather patterns – summer one minute, midwinter the next – it’s always good to have an excellent pub garden in your back pocket, and The Chequers has one of the best going. Loads of seating, a fab play area for the kids, outdoor pagodas. Plus, for a small premium, you can enjoy not one roast but THREE, with their “trio of roast meats”.

Headley
The Cock Inn
Sitting on top of a hill surrounded by excellent views, this is a lovely pub with a real country feel. Don’t be surprised to spot a few horses milling about on the horizon, nor to find a dog catching a few zeds under your table – it’s very canine friendly. Great beer selection, great vibes, and, trust us, the wise man (and woman) knows to order the Steak and St Peters dark ale pie.
