Get to Know Aubrey Beardsley

Back in the 1880s, our town was home to the very talented Aubrey Beardsley, known for his distinctive black ink drawings.

In the days before COVID-19 – which has become a distant memory – Beardsley was due to make a comeback, swapping Epsom’s Spread Eagle for the slightly more spectacular Tate Britain. Over 200 pieces of his work were on display in the largest of his exhibitions for 50 years – and whilst we hope that Beardsley will be waiting for us when the Tate re-opens its doors, might we recommend doing some prior research. So, settle on the sofa and give him a Google or dare to re-create one of his masterpieces…
