Gin-spirational

After working in the drinks industry for 25 years, Simon Marjoram, founder of Hampton Court Gin, decided it was high-time he created his own.

“Living and working near Hampton Court and walking my dog daily along the stretch of the Thames by the iconic Palace, I loved the juxtaposition of contemporary local community surrounded by 500 years of epic history. So, with modern craft spirits and one of the most captivating periods in British history – the reign of King Henry VIII and his Six Wives – I set out to create Hampton Court Gin. We’ve loved delving into the past and the inspiration behind each of our products. Our elegant and aromatic flagship craft gin, ‘The Six Wives’, celebrates the six wives of King Henry VIII, with six distinctive botanicals that would have been grown in the Royal Kitchen Gardens.

“’Lord of Misrule’ pays homage to a Tudor tradition of festive mischief and role reversal with rich botanicals creating a blend of contradictions, for a curiously spicy craft gin. While our golden spiced craft rum, The Father, is inspired by Henry VIII’s pivotal role in establishing the Royal Navy during his reign, earning him his moniker of ‘The Father of the Royal Navy’ and his love of importing exotic foods and spices.”
