Local couple Ben Lee Baw, a personal trainer, and his wife, Kelly, share what makes living and working in this stylish Surrey village so easy to love. “We’re incredibly fortunate to live here, it’s scenic and boasts fantastic small independents with such loyal customers. There’s a strong sense of community here – which we both love.”

What shop could you not live without?

Kelly says, “I was born and grew up in Cobham and my Dad still lives here. As well as being a lash and nail technician, I also work part time at Adrenalin – and have done so for over 30 years. Established for many years, it’s an independent sports shop and family run business that definitely plays a big role in the community. It’s the go to place to get absolutely all your sports stuff and equipment.”

Kelly says, “Our favourite local feature has to be the stunning mill on the river which we often take for granted as we drive past it daily plus loads of open spaces to walk the dog or go for a run.”

Let’s go outside…

Ben says, “And how can we not mention Painshill! This 18th century landscaped garden is a pleasant stroll from Cobham High Street and while we’ve visited many times with friends and family, it’s always a hit.

We love walking around the Serpentine Lake and the Crystal Grotto is a must-visit. If you’re a fan of Bridgerton they filmed scenes here plus there’s the Live Music Lates and outdoor theatre to look forward to this summer too.”

Where’s your favourite lunchtime recommendation?
Ben says, “Hands down, Kinjo! It’s a local Japanese restaurant with a stunning menu – it never disappoints. I am a big sushi lover and I’ve tried many places but Kinjo is next level. They only use fresh ingredients and dishes are a modern take on traditional Japanese cooking.”

What’s Cobham’s best kept secret spot?
Ben says, “We have a brilliant community newsagents called Farrants which has its very unique cigar room downstairs. There’s a ton of history about this place – it’s been here since 1896! From sweets to stationery, they sell so many things. It’s great to have somewhere like this, still family-run but evolving and adapting and thriving locally.”
